It was so fascinating to learn about your father's paper because it clearly has such deep rooted meaning and personal significance to you, not only regarding your father's admittance to the virology program at the University of Minnesota but also including the naming of the Salmonella strain with your uncle's name. I noticed that the images of the paper that you uploaded are photographs of a hardcopy printed version of the paper -- this made me curious about whether or not your father's paper is uploaded somewhere digitally and if so, whether or not there is significance in this specific hardcopy that you decided to photographically document. In addition, if your father's paper is preserved digitally somewhere already, how will you further attempt to make sure it remains relevant and remembered?

"Salmonellosis still remains a major public health problem, with an increasing number of new serotypes being isolated. The new serotype described and reported here caused severe clinical salmonellosis in guineapigs and could constitute a public health hazard.”
Wow, Michelle, this is such a meaningful text to preserve! I found it really impressive that your father was able to turn an unexpected outbreak of Salmonella into a piece of research. I’d be curious to hear the backstory of how this paper came about and at what point he realized that he was dealing with a new strain of Salmonella. As for the quote above, I’d also be curious to hear about whether Salmonella ochiogu has ever reared its head again, in guineapigs or humans or other animals. I’m excited to hear your final presentation!
